Texas Hold'em is a 7-card poker game that's best played with 4-10 people. Each player is dealt 2 cards face-down, and 5 community cards are shared by the entire table, the object of the game is to make the best hand using 5 of the 7 cards, to keep the game fair, the deal rotates clockwise around the table after each hand. Rank of Hands Royal Flush - Ten, Jack, Queen, King, Ace of the same suit. Strait Flush - Strait with all five cards in the same suit. Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same face value. (Quads) Full House - Three cards of the same face value and 2 cards of another face value. Flush - Five cards of the same suit. Strait - Five cards of mixed suit in sequential order. Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same face value. (Trips or a set) Two Pair - two cards of the same face value and two different cards of the same face value. Pair - Two cards of the same face value. High Card - If there is no pair, the hand with the highest card wins. How to Play a Hand: 1. The dealer, starting to his left, deals each player two cards face-down. 2. Based on those cards alone, the 1st round of betting begins to the dealers left. 3. Next, 3 community cards, known as "the flop," are dealt face-up in the center of the table. Betting begins again with the first player still in the hand on the dealer's left. 4. The 4th community card, "the turn" is dealt to the center, followed by another round of betting. 5. The 5th and final community card "the river" is dealt and a final round of betting begins. 6. The players remaining in the hand then turn their cards over to reveal the winner. Hold'em Terms Pot: The total amount bet, and eventually own, on a single hand. Check: Passing the option to bet to the next player. Bet: Adding chips to the pot. All other players must match the amount to stay in the hand. Call: Matching a previous players bet in order to stay in the hand. Raise: Adding to a previous player's bet to increase the pot. All other players must "call" this bet to stay in. All-in: In no limit hold'em, a player may bet all his remaining chips at any time during a hand. Blind: A bet set out by one or two players to the left of the button before the hand is dealt to start the betting action. |
