Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act of 2007
April 26, 2007 Barney Frank (D-MA) introduced H.R. 2046: the Internet Gambling Regulation
and Enforcement Act of 2007. This bill would allow for licensing and regulation of
online gambling and repeals the "Internet Gambling Prohibition Act" that was attached to
the Safe Port Act of 2006.
June 7, 2007 James McDermott (D-WA) introduced H.R.2607: To amend the Internal Revenue
Code of 1986 to regulate internet gambling. This seems to be a similar bill as Barney
Frank"s bill and may be a revision of that bill. If passed the effective date would be
January 1, 2008.
Read more about these bills at the Poker Players Alliance web site
click here. I encourage everyone to write or call your State
Representatives asking them to support this bill. Some good reasons to support this
bill
are:
Poker is one of the great American pastimes.
Poker is a game with a predominance of skill.
Poker is a source of income for charity.
Billions of tax revenue is being lost.
75 percent of Americans oppose banning online poker.

Washington D.C.(March 5, 2007) The Poker Players
Alliance (PPA), a grassroots organization of more than
160,000 poker enthusiasts, announced today that
former United States Senator Alfonse D'Amato has
joined the PPA to serve as Chairman of the Board and
help lead efforts in Washington D.C. to protect the
game of poker. Read more at
